Norfolk’s first bushcraft school…….

After the great success of Ray Mear’s Bushcraft and Survival Television series, bushcraft schools were seen to be cropping up all over the country but until now not in Norfolk.

But all that has been put right with the opening of TheCanoeMan’s School of Bushcraft opening this Easter in one of the most beautiful woods in the county at Weasenham (between Swaffham and Fakenham)

TheCanoeMan’s School of Bushcraft are providers of high quality outdoor education covering all aspects of bushcraft and nature awareness. Our training guides you through the fascinating world of natural history as a participant not an observer.

It is our hope, regardless of your age or ability, you will gain a deeper understanding of the outdoors, nature and a greater respect for wilderness and its conservation.

Using traditional living skills from around the world and combining them with modern day technology, we go far beyond the general perception of survival exploring with a unique perspective our plants, trees and wildlife and our relationship with nature as a whole. From novice to bushcraft instructor level we offer specialist courses for the naturalist or for those preparing for adventure travel to wilderness areas.

We also run workshops covering ancient and indigenous skills such as greenwood crafts and traditional English longbow making. We also offer corporate events and team building activities which are not only informative but great fun too! Join us on one of our courses and we promise you an experience of a lifetime!

The wood at weasenham, apart from Bushcraft and it’s adrenalin pumping High ropes course( one of the highest & longest in the country), will now offer a range of activities to groups of 10 or more which include :

Archery, Rifle shooting, Bushcraft, Kayaking, Canoeing, Tree Climbing Team Building Raft Building Orienteering, Plus many more activities…..

Transport to and from the wood can be provided as well as overnight accommodation in what is probably the regions largest Tipi!

Bushcraft courses can be organized for half / full days or even weekends if you have a group of 6 or more. Alternatively individuals can join on one of the following weekend Bushcraft courses :

Bushcraft courses can be organized all year round (on almost any dates) for groups of 6 or more.

These bespoke courses can also be tailored to your needs i.e Bow making, Green Woodworking etc.

The following are pre-organized courses that individuals/ couples can join in on :

Bushcraft Courses

Minimum Age Accompanied 8 (accompanied by Parent or Guardian) Unaccompanied 12 (on day courses) 16 (Overnight)

Children under 16 receive a 25% discount when accompanied by a parent /Guardian.

Courses Include food, equipment & training –

Overnight Courses include Tented accommodation in our on site Tipi.
